Don’t you feel better when you take a breath of fresh air? Purific aims to help people cope with stress through improving air quality and aromatherapy. Purific consists of two units.
One is an air purifier, and the other is a humidifier.
The main air purifier unit can be hung on a wall so that it can get a better airflow. It can also be placed on the ground with its foldable feet. In the center of Purific, there’s a modular, battery-powered humidifier with aromatherapy capsules built-in.
I figured since it can be both placed on a wall or a desk, adding a digital clock on the front side would make sense since people are already used to seeing clocks in these locations.
Following the theme of making people calmer and stress-free, I used sunset imagery and Zen gardens as an inspiration for the front panel of Purific.
What makes it smart / innovative?:
Sustainability was the priority when designing the internals. Purific uses plasma filters that are washable, dishwasher safe and reusable. Many other air purifiers use HEPA filters.
While they do a decent job cleaning the air of the room, they are not recyclable or reusable, making them very unfriendly to the environment.
I also used recycled and recyclable materials like Aluminum and Cloth. Purific has four screws on its back, which makes it easy to repair if something goes wrong. Many people have trouble waking up and it makes the start of the day more stressful.
There’s an ambient light on the back, which will synchronize with the user’s smartphone’s alarm in the morning and wake them up more naturally by mimicking the sun rising.
Why is it relevant for the final user?:
Breathing is what we do, all day long. Quality of the air around us also affects how we feel. I figured if there was an easy to use, compact device that can help alleviate symptoms of stress, it’ll be appealing for the final user.
Also, some environmentally conscious consumers want to have access to better air quality but HEPA filters that other air purifiers use are one time use only, throw away solutions.
Purific’s washable Plasma filters are the key to solving this issue.
